Three P of Project Management – Project Scoping & Planning, Process and People

Project Management has become more and more important as the life cycle of the product is getting shorter and shorter. If you just take a good look at the mobile phone, how many color of mobile phone do we have 10 – 15 years ago I believe, it has only one color and there are not many models around as well. But, let’s look at the situation today, how many models and color of mobile phone do we have today I don’t think I’m able to count.

So, why does the product life cycle have to do with project management

When the product life cycle is getting shorter, companies have to keep introduce new products to the market. And, when you need to introduce more new products, we always need R&D which involves project management and new product introduction (NPI). Therefore, project management skill has become an essential skill in an organization.

Now, if you look at the definition of a project according to Wikipedia, a project is defined in the field of project management, consists of a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a product or service. As the product life cycle becomes shorter and shorter, I believe one day everything that we produce may be just a temporary endeavor, even services.

Time Management Tips – Use Spiritual NULL Mnemonic

Say No to Tangibles (something that you can see and touch) Close your management books, computer, internet, radio, and mp3 players. Close your eyes open and open your heart and your brain. You will realize that you are joyfully managing your time — already. You say to yourself Wow, I have so much time in life, what will do now

Procrastination is an Unknown Word Pretend that you have not heard of this word, procrastination, in your life. If you postpone something, you are neither right nor wrong. Just be neutral about the situation. In fact, eliminate ‘procrastination’ from your vocabulary. People who manage time hardly take a time management course. They realize that they are good at managing time only when others tell them. Procrastination is an unknown English word for people who believes that they are good time managers.

Use Lighter Vocabulary to Manage Time Change your vocabulary. So, you do not say ‘manage time’ but you say ‘celebrate time’. You are celebrating the time at office, at home, at the bus stops and in the queues, which means, you are enjoying the present time, joyfully, in your own world that can never be interrupted by place, people, events and things. Other than management words such as deadlines, to-do lists and plans, which you often use to pass MBA exams and management courses, practical human emotions and natural behavior on time management is blissful to creatures.
